Glossary

To help you get to grips with off roading, here is our list of basic terminology:

Competition (Comp) Safari

Event usually for dedicated rough terrain racing machines

Clerk of Course (C of C)

The individual responsible for ensuring that the course is correctly set out and kept perfectly clear

Cross Country Vehicle (CCV)

Event usually for dedicated trialling machines

Road Tax Vehicle (RTV)

Dedicated event for Road Taxed Vehicles

RTV Trials

Please find our list of minimum requirements for taking part in a Road Tax Vehicle (RTV) trial with EMORC:

Vehicle preparation

  • Current M.O.T
  • Road taxed
  • Front and rear recovery points (hook or tow ball type only)
  • Tow rope (minimum diameter 25mm with spliced ends and about 4.5m long)
  • Two litre AFFF fire extinguisher mounted but accessible
  • All full soft tops to have roll bar (at least one rear hoop and two back stays)

We are registered with the MSA (Motor Sport Association) and abide by their rules.

Vehicles are scrutinised, but if the vehicle has a current M.O.T and meet the above criteria, there should not be any problems.
